I copy here the text of the entrepreneur who made this move pituca:
Peter A. Scott - Founder and Director of Production, Ska Cubano
During the ten years I spent exploring Cuba, I totally fell in love with their music and culture. In particular got to know Santiago de Cuba, the cradle of Cuban music and many great musicians, who became like my second home. Previously spend some time in Jamaica is also becoming a big fan of different styles musicales como el mento, calipso, ska, rock steady y roots reggae.
Comencé to imagine what would have happened if the same level of musical interaction continued after the Revolution, concluding that the "ska", which borrowed many elements batching agents Cubans had come to be welcomed enthusiastically by Cuban musicians in the early 60. So for fun form a record label, casinosounds to explore new directions in Cuban music and decides to create an alternate history where Ska Cubano had arisen.
I already knew some of the biggest names in London ska, as Gaz Mayall (who encouraged me to go ahead with the project) and Natty Bo of Top Cats. Natty was not only an important exponent and devotee of ska but also a big fan of Cuban music, with a large vinyl collection (including classic mambo and rumba, some of which I had never heard before) in years 40 and 50. A Natty loved the idea. We embarked on a plane to Cuba. Natty submit to Santiago and the musicians began to transform the project into a reality. Soon we had three bands experimenting with ska and a lot of musicians concerned about what was happening.
The crème de la crème of the project was crazy and charismatic singer Beny Billy, who Natty met when she sang in the streets Santiago. Natty then-wife, Megumi Mesaku, probably the best ska saxophonist, also traveled to Santiago to teach the style ska to metal musicians.
In February 2002 most of the first album was recorded "live" with Cuban musicians, Natty and Megumi, Siboney Egrem studies of Santiago de Cuba and 2 "analog. Then was mixed in London by the producer of reggae and ska Spider Johnson Etienne, Natty and myself, mainly at Wolf Studios, Brixton, London.
